Story of Jenin camp: the second largest in the West Bank

A refugee camp founded in 1953 west of Jenin on the edge of Marj Ibn Amer, on 372 dunams later expanded to 473, and the second largest camp in the West Bank.

Jenin camp was established in 1953 on the western side of Jenin at the edge of Marj Ibn Amer, and is the second largest refugee camp in the West Bank after Balata, housing close to 27,000 refugees.

It covered about 372 dunams when founded and has expanded to about 473 dunams. Hills surround it, Wadi al-Jadi passes through it, and a crowded flat area known as al-Sahil adds to its very high population density.
