Story of Deir Sharaf: the place that overlooks its surroundings

A village in the Nablus governorate whose name combines 'deir' (monastery) and 'sharaf' — a high place overlooking its surroundings.

Deir Sharaf is a village in the Nablus governorate that came under Israeli occupation after 1967.

Its name joins 'deir' and 'sharaf', the latter meaning a high or elevated place overlooking what is around it, which fits the village's geography. The village keeps an old railway station that recalls the Hejaz line.
