Story of Deir Ghazaleh: a village overlooking Marj Ibn Amer

A village in Jenin governorate overlooking Marj Ibn Amer, with three mosques, two schools and a health clinic, and some 5,000 dunums under cultivation.

Deir Ghazaleh is a Palestinian village in Jenin governorate overlooking the Marj Ibn Amer plain, run by a village council under the Ministry of Local Government that provides water, electricity, waste collection and infrastructure. It has three mosques — the old al-Umari mosque, the Great Mosque of Deir Ghazaleh and the Sheikh Ahmad Fuad Zakarneh mosque — and three cemeteries, two Muslim and one Christian, besides a Ministry of Health primary care clinic and private clinics, boys' and girls' schools, a kindergarten and a Quran centre. The village also has a sports club, a women's centre, a multi-purpose hall, a children's public library and a rural women's development society; about 5,000 dunums are cultivated, producing grain, fodder, vegetables, fruit and some 25 tonnes of olive oil a year.
