Story of Askar camp: from 209 dunams to 'New Askar'

Askar camp lies inside Nablus municipality; it was established in 1950 on 209 dunams and expanded by 90 more dunams in 1965 as 'New Askar'.

Askar camp is five kilometres north-east of Nablus on the road to Wadi al-Badhan and the Jordan Valley. Overcrowding led to the 1965 expansion known as New Askar, which is not an official camp and has no UNRWA installations.
