Story of Arab al-Suwaytat: a Bedouin hamlet south-east of Jenin

A small rural community south-east of Jenin, named after a Bedouin family that settled there in the late Ottoman period and surrounded by farmland and the Suwaytat woods.

Arab al-Suwaytat, also known as al-Suwaytat, is a small Palestinian community south-east of Jenin in the northern West Bank, administratively attached to Jenin municipality. It sits in a rural area near the interior plain, surrounded by farmland and woodland, and its residents depend mainly on agriculture and herding. Nearby lies the Suwaytat woods, a grove of about 140 dunums that is one of the area's natural landmarks.
