Story of al-Mansura: a small village on a hill south of Jenin

A village on a hill 415 metres above sea level, 13 km south of Jenin, with 220 residents in 2017 whose roots go back to the Sawarka tribe.

Al-Mansura is a Palestinian village in Jenin governorate, some 13 km south of the city at about 415 metres above sea level. It stands on a high hill in the southern part of the governorate overlooking wide stretches of Palestinian countryside and is linked to the Nablus–Jenin road. Neighbouring communities include Wadi Duquq to the north, Marka to the north-east, al-Zawiya to the south and Arraba to the south-west. A relatively modern settlement, it was occupied in 1967 until the Oslo agreement of 1993; its land now lies in Area A but it has no independent village council and is administered through neighbouring localities. The population was 220 in 2017 and 249 in 2023, and residents form a Bedouin community rooted in the Sawarka tribe.
